Summary
Three days of big crowds at the JSAE Exposition 2016 Yokohama |
This report contains a summary of exhibits by Toyota, Nissan and Honda at the Automotive Engineering Exposition 2016 Yokohama, which was organized by the Society of Automotive Engineers of Japan, Inc. (JSAE), and took place from May 25-27, 2016. The three OEMs introduced their latest green car models along with the new technologies that underpin them.
Toyota exhibited a cutaway model of the fourth-generation Prius, which achieves fuel efficiency of 40.8 km/liter under Japan's JC08 test cycle. The all-new Prius is the first car that was built on the TNGA (Toyota New Global Architecture) platform. Unique features were introduced, including a highly fuel-efficient powertrain that integrates the Prius' DNA and TNGA, and a low center of gravity package.
Nissan displayed the electric powertrain of the Leaf EV and the 30 kWh lithium-ion battery that was adopted in December 2015, along with a reference exhibition of a 60 kWh lithium-ion battery that is undergoing development. Nissan also introduced its autonomous driving technology, which will be introduced in phases in 2016, 2018, and 2020.
Honda showcased a cutaway model of the all-new Clarity Fuel Cell. The company also exhibited the world's lightest die-cast hollow aluminum front subframe and the "Power Exporter 9000" portable power feeding device.
