Indonesian sales down 13.8% to 61,271 in March
The Association of Indonesia Automotive Industries (GAIKINDO) and other sources reported that Indonesian vehicle sales in March 2026 were 61,271 units, down 13.8% compared to March 2025.
By automaker sales in March, Toyota was down 20.0% y/y to 17,984 units and a 29.4% market share. Daihatsu was down 31.7% to 8,916 units with a 14.6% market share. Mitsubishi was down 10.0% to 5,190 units with a 8.5% market share. Suzuki was up 2.5% to 4,552 units with a 7.4% market share. Honda was down 34.5% to 4,129 units with a 6.7% market share.
While sales declined across the board for most manufacturers, Jaecoo continued its strong performance, overtaking BYD to rise to 6th place. Jaecoo sold 3,035 units with a 5.0% market share, while BYD’s sales decreased by 8.2% to 2,941 units (4.8% market share). Geely was up 579.0% to 1,195 units with 2.0% market share, while Wuling was down 42.1% to 1,020 units with 1.7% market share. Chery’s sales decreased by 45.6% to 995 units (1.6% market share).
2026 January- March sales were up 1.7% to 209,021 units.
GAIKINDO noted that the decline in sales was due to the impact of the extended holiday period for Islamic Lebaran (Eid al-Fitr) holiday.

Indonesian sales up 12.2% to 81,159 in February
The Association of Indonesia Automotive Industries (GAIKINDO) and other sources reported that Indonesian vehicle sales in February 2026 were 81,159 units, up 12.2% compared to February 2025.
By automaker sales in February, Toyota was down 7.7% y/y to 22,522 units and a 27.8% market share. Daihatsu was up 12.5% to 13,452 units with a 16.6% market share. Suzuki was up 103.3% to 9,659 units with a 11.9% market share. Mitsubishi was up 4.8% to 7,008 units with a 8.6% market share. Honda was down 38.5% to 5,385 units with a 6.6% market share.
BYD’s sales increased by 232.6% to 4,653 units (5.7% market share), while Jaecoo sold 3,005 units with a 3.7% market share. Wuling was down 22.6% to 1,497 units with a 1.8% market share, while Chery was down 21.5% to 1,152 units (1.4% market share). Geely’s sales increased by 1,601.5% to 1,123 units (1.4% market share).
2026 January- February sales were up 9.8% to 147,631 units.
GAIKINDO has set new car sales target for 2026 at 850,000 units, a 5.4% increase from the result in 2025. February sales saw significant growth for Chinese brands BYD and Geely, as well as emerging brand Jaecoo, driven by expanding EV demand and promotional campaigns at the motor show.

Indonesian sales up 7.0% to 66,447 in January
The Association of Indonesia Automotive Industries (GAIKINDO) and other sources reported that Indonesian vehicle sales in January 2026 were 66,447 units, up 7.0% compared to January 2025.
By automaker sales in January, Toyota was down 9.1% y/y to 20,078 units and a 30.2% market share. Daihatsu was up 25.3% to 12,513 units with a 18.8% market share. Mitsubishi was up 37.2% to 6,898 units with a 10.4% market share. BYD was up 338.0% to 4,879 units with a 7.3% market share. Honda was down 44.8% to 4,016 units with a 6.0% market share.
Jaecoo sold 2,025 units with 3.0% market share. Wuling 's sales decreased by 2.0% to 1,077 units (1.6% market share), while Chery was down 3.4% to 1,064 units (1.6% market share). Geely soled 647 units with 1.0% market share.
GAIKINDO is optimistic about achieving its 2026 sales target of 850,000 units in Indonesia. With the economy on a recovery track and the market being revitalized by factors such as the entry of new Chinese brands, sales volumes have begun showing signs of recovery since the beginning of 2026.
