Summary
| The LF-30 Electrified Concept is the embodiment of the Lexus vision for electrification |
This report will cover Toyota Motor Corporation’s exhibitions at the Tokyo Motor Show 2019.
At Toyota’s main booth, not a single vehicle scheduled for release in 2020 could be found. Instead, the automaker hosted an entertainment show dubbed “mobility theme park,” where visitors could experience a futuristic environment. Showcased were the e-Palette, which is scheduled for use in the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games, as well as several other futuristic experience elements such as the Toyota Micro Palette and the broom-shaped mobility solution e-broom.
Vehicles (scheduled) for commercial release, such as the Ultra-compact BEV, the next-generation Mirai, the LQ, the new Yaris, and the Gran Ace full-size wagon and more were displayed at the Toyota Auto Body Co., Ltd. booth adjacent to the mobility theme park, as well as at venues such as Venus Fort and Mega Web.
Lexus unveiled its vision for electrification, Lexus Electrified, and its LF-30 Electrified concept representing that vision. The LF-30 Electrified features four in-wheel motors and the Lexus Advanced Posture Control system using precise motors to realize an advanced and highly flexible degree of posture control which would be impossible in conventional gasoline-engine vehicles. Lexus aims to provide electric options for all its models by 2025, at which point it intends to sell more electric vehicles (including hybrids) than gasoline engine vehicles.
