HV Battery

  • 82.5kWh (Usable) LFP battery pack
  • Assumed cell supplier is the BYD subsidiary Findreams
  • 172 blade cells are connected in series (550V nominal)
  • Energy density Approx. 150 Wh/kg
  • The pack is integrated in the refrigerant circuit of the vehicle to cool the battery
  • The blade cells are integrated into the aluminum housing without any bolts just using a significant amount of adhesive
  • Battery disconnect unit and BMS master PCBA are installed in a compartment at the front of the battery pack

"8-in-1" rear EDU

  • One of the vehicle highlights is the innovative rear EDU which combines eight key components in one unit.

Powertrain domain controller

  • Six components integrated in one unit:
    1. Motor Control Unit (Inverter)
      • Inverter for E-Motor with 230 kW peak power
      • SiC MOSFET technology
      • Inverter semiconductors are used together with E-Motor to boost from 400 V to 800 V
    2. On-Board Charger
      • 11 kW AC and 150 kW DC charging
      • Vehicle-to-load function up to 3 kW
    3. Power Distribution Unit
      • HV connection to charging port, E-Motor and HV battery
    4. DC/DC Converter
    5. Battery Management System
    6. Vehicle Control Unit
  • The powertrain domain controller underlines the ongoing trend towards higher integration levels to save weight, space and cost.

Benchmarking Report Overview

The following reports are available:

  • M1.1 – Level-1 Benchmark

    Level-1 benchmark delivers a first vehicle overview and comparison of key performance indicators within FEV scatter bands.

  • M3.11 – Design Benchmark HV Battery

    The BYD Seal is equipped with an 84kWh battery with a nominal voltage of 550V, using highly integrated LFP blade cells in a cell-to-pack configuration.

  • M3.12 – Design Benchmark EDU (e-Axle: Front, Rear 8in1)

    The front EDU(Electric Drive Unit) is capable of 160 kW peak power and includes an induction motor, inverter, and 1-speed gearbox. The rear EDU is referred to as an 8-in-1 box solution, integrating the electric motor and gearbox as well as many power electronic functions.
    The report can be purchased separately for the front e-Axle and rear e-Axle.
