Summary

Sony Honda Mobility (SHM), the joint venture (JV) mobility tech company established by Sony Group Corporation and Honda Motor Co., Ltd. in 2022, has been continuously exhibiting prototypes of its new AFEELA brand BEVs (battery electric vehicles) at past CES (Consumer Electronics Show) and Japan Mobility Show (JMS) expos, and finally unveiled several AFEELA 1 pre-production vehicles in multiple color variations, alongside a new AFEELA concept model at this year’s CES 2026. This report describes the HMI (Human-Machine Interface) features of the AFEELA 1 displayed at this year’s CES in Las Vegas.

AFEELA at CES 2026

At CES 2026, there was much talk about the absence of Sony Group exhibits at the main booth, but SHM's AFEELA booth featured a major presence, and a large AFEELA sign was also displayed outside. On display at the AFEELA booth was the AFEELA Prototype 2026, a newly announced SUV, and several pre-production models, in multiple color variations, of the all-electric dual-motor AWD AFEELA 1 sedan that will be delivered starting this year. The cabin of the AFEELA Prototype 2026 was not open to the public, but MarkLines reporters were able to gain access to the interior of the AFEELA 1 as well as observe a demonstration by the display attendant. Although it was not possible to actually touch and operate the HMI, the following are some of the AFEELA 1's HMI features that were able to be seen from the demonstrations given by the display attendant.

This approximately 900-page report summarizes HMI trends in production vehicles based on surveys of around 100 models from Japan, Europe, the U.S., China, and Korea conducted at global motor shows and exhibitions by HMIpro Inc..
