Summary
The automotive industry is strengthening its efforts toward carbon neutrality throughout the supply chain. At trade shows held in Japan, initially from around 2022, automobile manufacturers and major suppliers began to introduce their initiatives in presentations, and gradually, carbon neutral-related products and activities were displayed in the exhibition booths of each company. Recently, the initiatives of each company have expanded to Scope 1 ~ 3 (Note: One of the standards for calculating and reporting greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions), and various examples are being introduced in the areas of parts, materials, and energy.
This report focuses on examples of carbon neutrality-related exhibits that MarkLines Co., Ltd. has covered for about a year, including technologies for reusing metals, such as rare metals for batteries and scrap aluminum, recycling of tires and interior materials, plastic materials recycling, and chemical recycling. These efforts will contribute to the decarbonization of raw materials and fuels through waste and resource recycling.
