Summary

IAA 2019 venue

Taking place between September 12th and September 22nd in Frankfurt, the International Motor Show 2019, also called IAA 2019 (short for Internationale Automobil-Ausstellung), presented "Driving tomorrow" as its slogan. On those dates, the general public and traders had the opportunity to see the innovations introduced by mobility service providers and high-tech companies.

The most remarkable theme at this year's IAA was the increased visibility of electric and electrified cars. The fact that many exhibitors presented such models showed a clear trend in the auto industry and ratified the carmakers' commitment to the Regulation (EU) 2019/631 passed by the European Parliament, requiring a reinforced engagement in the reduction of use of fossil fuels, and therefore CO2 emissions.

This year's IAA had some notable nonappearances. Not only Asian carmakers such as Mazda, Nissan, Toyota, Subaru, Suzuki and Mitsubishi were not present, but also some prominent European and American companies were absent including Fiat, Jeep, Volvo, Peugeot, Citroën, DS and Dacia. The total number of exhibitors also decreased, going from 994 in 2017 to 838.
