BMW to break sales record in 2013

Summary

 During the January to September 2013 period, BMW Group sold 1,436,000 vehicles, an increase of 7.5% year-over-year and expects a new record for its year-round sales. BMW aims to achieve a sales volume of two million vehicles by 2016. To accomplish this goal, the automaker will aggressively launch new models .

 Production capacities will be expanded in the U.S., China, and the U.K. In the emerging countries, BMW will establish and strengthen local production and sale network. Simultaneously, the production facility for the BMW i sub-brand in Germany will be enhanced.

 Regarding the future sales, LMC Automotive forecasts the light vehicle sales of BMW in 2013 to increase by 5.6% to 1.89 million units. Sales are expected to increase to 2.39 million units by 2016, which is a 33.8% increase compared with 2012. The region expected to contribute most to growth is China, where increase in sales volume to 608,253 units is forecast, a significant increase of 81.2% in 2016. The "BMW models [made in China] will retain the current growth momentum in the coming years."
