Summary
The SU7 is the first model launched into the EV market by Xiaomi Corporation (Xiaomi), known as a global smartphone manufacturer. Gigacast is used for the rear structure, but its shape and thickness are similar to those of other companies' previous models. A die-casting machine with a clamping force of over 9,000 tons is used, and the material Titans Metal is unique to Xiaomi.
Apart from Gigacast, another feature of this car is that it improves frontal rigidity by using a triangular frame that connects the left and right strut towers and the bulkhead within the front compartment. Furthermore, the side sills, which have the same cross-sectional shape from the front to the rear, and the battery case, made by welding aluminum structural components, are designed to ensure the rigidity of the underside of the vehicle.
| The MarkLines Benchmark Center, which was responsible for the teardown of the Xiaomi SU7 (pictured), has conducted independent and contracted research on several EVs since its opening. | Gigacast consists of the rear wheel arches and the floor surface that connects them. When the battery case is removed, there are no structures other than the Gigacast between the left and right side sills. |
