Summary
Compared to major German OEMs such as Volkswagen, BMW and Daimler, other European automakers have been more varied in their approaches to electrification. PSA announced that they would launch fifteen electrified models, consisting of eight plug-in hybrids and seven battery electric vehicles, from 2019 through 2020. Renault, having previously established an electrified lineup spanning a range of segments in 2012, aims to expand further, with the City K-ZE exclusively for the Chinese market as well as its first hybrid and plug-in hybrid models.
As brands with fewer models in their lineup, Volvo and Jaguar Land Rover have both set years for when their new models would henceforth be electrified. Starting in 2019, all new Volvo vehicles would feature an electric motor in either a mild hybrid, plug-in hybrid, or battery electric powertrain. Jaguar Land Rover announced that every new model line starting in 2020 would have electrified options.
