Global Top 10 Countries Sales Forecast (Q1 2025)

Global sales to increase 3.0% to 91.5M in 2025, 1.3% to 92.7M in 2026

Summary

⋆An updated version of this forecast report will be released every quarter

-According to a report by GlobalData as of Q1 2025, global light vehicle sales are forecast to increase by 3.0% YoY to 91.5 mn.

-This update does not take account of the US tariffs that are being brought in as the Trump administration looks to reshore production in the US. If these tariffs remain in place this would hit the US market as prices increase on many vehicles (47% of LVs sold in the US in 2024 were assembled outside the country, and those that were built in the US generally contain significant percentages of imported content), and we could see 1-2 million fewer vehicles sold per annum over the next few years if deals are not done and some tariffs are reversed.

-While the base forecast presented in this report does focus on growth, we will be providing ongoing updates as the tariff story becomes clearer, with a global downward revision a working assumption unless the US reverses course.
