Fast charging on the highway for long-distance travel, automated charging at low power for everyday driving – that is what a viable charging concept could look like, and it is also one that reduces the risk of the power grid being overwhelmed while at the same time supporting security of supply. This is particularly true if the charging process is also grid-optimized.
This article presents a number of developments in automated and bidirectional BEV charging that will enable this vision to be technically implemented.
